The Balfour is the older and smaller of the two ferries that serve the Balfour-Kootenay Bay Route.She is the last remaining single-ender in the BC InteriorBuilt in 1954, the vessel can carry approximately 28 vehicles and up to 145 passengers.The vessel docks bow-in at Kootenay Bay and stern-to at Balfour.The Balfour only operates during the summer months and whenever the larger and more capable Osprey 2000 is out of service for maintenance. The rest of the year, she sits idle at the Balfour Terminal.There is a small passenger lounge on the starboard side of the vessel.
